1886 Seated Liberty Dime MD or could it be RPD.
Well , I’m going to put this on here because to me it kind of looks like MD. It also kind of looks like it might be the RPD. There is quite a bit of damage on the rim under the 6 and I do see slight goings on under the second 8 just not to the degree of the photos I’ve been able to view of the 1886 Dime. I hope I didn’t damage it more with the tooth pick. There was quite a bit of gunk under the 6 that I tried to gently remove. Maybe I should have let that be.Thanks for taking a look.Tags: None

In my opinion, there is one that might be a possibilty.

The absence of repunching on the second "8" is a mild concern, but the "6" repunching looks favorable. It has significant wear on the coin. What you may be able to do is soak the dime in medium to hot tapwater for 15 minutes or so. Then let the faucet water simply fall on the date area and see if any gunk from the middle of the numbers in the date can be cleared up. Pat dry with a cloth towel to prevent paper fibers from paper towels from invading the surface of the coin.

Thanks Gary, that sound like a good option. I do kind of see the hook in the center of the 6 that looks to be a diagnostics of that variety. There is quite a bit of debris in the date area though. By the way, i was in Va Beach over the thanksgiving holiday and looked for a show to possibly attend. None that week though. I did get to make a trip to Candl Coins with the grandchildren though. Thoroughly enjoyed talking with the owner about coins. He even gave my grandchildren free loops which was very nice of him.

No problem, you are welcome.
We are in Newport News but we do not have a brick and motor store. We operate out of a home office and use safes in a storage area as our warehouse. We sell a good amount of errors online. Time to add the varieties and normal coins soon.
This past weekend was Wyers Cave show, but we dropped that show. It's pretty far away.
The next show will be in Virginia Beach at the Convention Center near 19th street. It's near Mary's for breakfast. A good wholesome meal, in my opinion.i think the Tidewater Coin club show is the weekend of the 8th and 9th. Normally that show falls on the 3 day weekend.Gary Kozera
