Congrats.
This is an excellent example of the "other" types of doubled dies that are out there. Key is, the original letters are intact and there is extra material associated with the letters.
Yes, 1968 S is a tough year. I think there were 2 or 3 rpms and may e 2 or
3 doubled dies in done in business strikes.
Hummm I think I have a bag of 68s LMC in storage, one of these days, I will have to visit the bag and look through a few handfuls to see if there are any varieties. Many people will never see this doubling, so I assume there are still some to be found out there. This is a great lesson about examining every coin completely. You would be surprised at some of the things you will find. Great find!Bob Piazza
