  • 2023P DDR (Possible), JFM is strongest

"2023P DDR (Possible), JFM is strongest"
I finally got some rolls just before Memorial Day that had some 2023 cents in them. This was in the second roll.
It has some decent thickness on JFM.
Some thickness on LB and the base of the letters of USA. My "STATES" image turned out the best showing the thickness on the bottoms.

Hope my images show the doubling well enough.

Thanks for looking and l 2023DDR(JFM)-Markers-Rev-12-BaseOf-STATES.JPG 2023DDR(JFM)-Obv-JFM-2.JPG 2023DDR(JFM)-Obv-LB-5-Nice.JPG et me know your thoughts.

not sure whom else will chime in but while i am familiar with the ddos/ddrs for these, they can be a bit challenging to confirm online (especially when split serifs aren't involved, although thickness can be pretty obvious sometimes) even with decent pics like yours. since it is 2023, the information lag is a real thing as it takes time to get information/new coins in the system, not that i know of any cents for 2023 yet.

if you don't get any solid info here, i'd put stuff like this in a pile of a few coins and submit them. it is possible for current year stuff to sit on a coin that could be a discovery, not that i think this is or isn't. i've had it happen a few times over the years and also to really drive the point home, when i was really into vam discoveries, i found several that i had missed by from 1-6 months!!! showing how active people were looking.

so the analysis is, spend money on coins that could be nothing vs sitting on something that could be a discovery and not submit it when you should and miss out.

i think that is the best i can do here.

    happy hunting!

      Thanks for the reply O-N.

This is a tough one because parts of the doubling are pretty minor and the stronger parts are making people think of Die deterioration.

The doubling on the JFM is distorted and throwing people off. But this reminds me of the 2017P DDO-001, where the thickness on TRUST was distorted, especially the "U S". http://varietyvista.com/01e%20LC%20Doubled%20Dies%20Vol%205/2017PDDO001.htm

I knew this coin will make folks wonder but I wanted to share it so others could see where potential DDR's might show up for the year. Each year seems to have some thickness that confounds us collectors. 2009 YR LC had a lot to ponder as well as the 2015 Homestead quarters. And 2019 had a lot of DDO's with odd width to the last 9 of the date.

(Lots of modern single-squeeze thickness shows up towards the center, but not always.)

As far as sending in for inclusion at the sites I've had many listed. This will go into "the box for submission", eventually, if no one else has already submitted one.
VV is great for varieties but many collectors with some nice varieties are still wondering about the new-ish process. They aren't sure if VV is open for submissions or if submissions for a listing are only available after posting here and then being asked to send it in.

i talked to james and he said he is accepting subs.

does the link you posted work when you click it? some of his links are a little quirky and i'm not sure how to find what you posted.

        gratz on having some discoveries!

Thanks for pointing that out. I corrected it and the link seems to be working now.

I've noticed some of his newer listings have a "V" preceeding the new listings.

            no prob.

afaik, going forward, all new listings will have the V. kinda until further notice type of thing i think.

i THINK it is to denote the listings james does outside of coneca? something along those lines. i really don't know if it would be a good thing to be able to recall everything i heard/read lol. pros n cons both ways.
