CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Just found and had graded! 1942 S/S DDO FS-101 RPM1

I have heard this is very hard to find. I found it by going through more wheat pennies than I care to mention ;-)

I just had it graded by ANACS and it came back as an EF 45 with the following:

    1942 S/S DDO FS-101 RPM1

How do you find the value on a coin like this? In the cherrypicker's guide it only has a list price for MS65.

I don't want to sell it but would like to know

According to Coppercoins, this is valued at $25.00.

Nice doubling shows on the 19 of the date, the eyelid, LIBERTY and IN GOD. Some lighter doubling shows on TRUST. This die is also a repunched mintmark and is identified as 1942S-1MM-001.

This is the only doubled die that I saw listed for the information that you gave.

I also checked your coin and the one on coppercoins.com and they are the same. As far as the pricing goes...there is always a caveat. The one on coppercoins is this:

            Value Information
"The values represented here are based on sales results, auction results, and information derived from overall percentage based values given for lower grade specimens in other guides and sales sheets. It is not intended to be interpreted as a buy or sell price nor intent to purchase on behalf of this site. It is only to be used as a guide."

That being said, prices do change as supply and demand changes. I have personally attributed 13 of these in the last year, after only seeing one in the previous 3 or 4 years. We know the die made it at least to MDS, so there are some numbers of these out there. The CPG list them as surprisingly difficult to find and lists an MS65 at $1250. That may have been accurate at the time of publication but as of right now, neither of those statements is accurate any more.

That does NOT detract from the fact that you have a very nice and desirable coin. As more are reported and sold the value will normally decrease.
