CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

There are good specialists here, don't be afraid. We are human beings (animals), everything is learned with time, try to improve the images (maybe).

The photos, are small and blurry when zoomed in. I can almost see what you ate talking about but I cannot tell if it is worthless doubling (machine doubling) or something else.

A website called varietyvista is a good place to start. The website will provide half decent photos of known varieties likedoubled dies and repunched mint marks.

Here is a link for the years for the DDO's

      http://varietyvista.com/06%20Mercury...20Listings.htm

It's important to know if the coin has a mintmark, so you know which year and mint to research. For the mercury dimes if it hasca mintmark, it dould be on the reverse at the bottom left side close to the torch.

The doubled dies had 2 or more impressions on a working die made of steel. These areas of doubling don't move, so what you see in reference photos should look very close or it is probably not a DDO.
