  • New 1989 D RPM

    Hi Folks -

I can't find this listed anywhere, so I'm thinking it might be new. 1989 D RPM second punch West. Yes, the coin has seen better days, haven't we all :-).

    What do you think?

I think not, but I too will wait to see if someone with more experience than I is willing to say “yay” on such a beat up coin.

The damage is pretty significant. It will be very hard to prove that it could be an RPM. It looks like the horizontal bar along with the eastern part of the D suffer from the same hit going southeast to northwest. In my opinion, I do not believe it is an RPM. In any event the cost to have that attributed would be way higher than the value of the coin.

The area is riddled with hits from the reeding from one coin hitting another. That is what those block style gouges are.

        Evening Mike,
Let that one go.. It doesn't have a serif, and it is very well worn as the other's have said.
Something like this would need PUP's "Pick Up Points" such as both serifs and part of a loop.
I think what you are seeing to the East may be from a damaged punch. Save your $$$
