  • 1905 China 10 Cash

I've really been struggling to find out anything about this coin and I'm hoping someone here can help

    I don't know if it's Y#10.0 or #10.1
I thought it might be 10.1 due to no mintmark

And I definitely haven't found anything about this variety
    The doubling is pretty cool

It is an awesome doubled die. I have one or 2 China cash coin varieties. You say you can't find anything on it? What are you looking for specifically? There is tons of info on these coins when you do a google search.

Info about the coin at NGC without the DDO:
      https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/...6-duid-1287877

Numista.com has it listed as well, without the DDO, It shows some related mintmarks in reference to PCGS:
      https://en.numista.com/catalogue/ind...&w=&mt=&g=&se=

NCG also lists a lot of different coins from the 19xx years here NGC is USUALLY good about showing explaes of each type coins. The hunt for the two types may be the elusive piece here:

Y#10: Tientsin Central Mint (pearl with thin flames)

Y#10.1: Tientsin Central Mint (pearl with thick flames)
        That's it right there
        I don't know which one I have

I see all kinds of info without the DDO but I haven't found how to determine the difference between thin or thick flames and/or I was trying to find something that listed this as a known variety

I was also hoping to get some kind of idea of grade and valuation

CONECA frowns on assisting people with grades and value. They consider it subjective, and it is between the seller and the buyer. Your best bet is a keyword search in ebay. Within the advanced property area you can search closed/sold items to get a rough idea on coin vs sale.

As far as ideas on the DDO of this coin, several are listed in ebay.

If I can find some time later, I will continue to dig. No promises on a speedy reply..

Completely understood about grade and value

I'm just trying to figure out how to ID it (thin or thick flames)

I have been researching this coin for a while and I have yet to see any other doubled dies that match it
And the vast majority of the China coins have different mintmarks

I appreciate all the help though

              Progress!

              I can safely ruleout Y#10.1
After studying some pictures, I have found other devices that separate the two varieties without trying to determine thin or thick flames

That leaves Y#10 but I'm noticing some big differences in some of the devices on my coin than the published Y#10

Am I allowed to post PCGS Trueview pics for comparison?

I am pretty sure you can, it's a legitimate site. I have seen other PCGS photos here.

                  Thanks
Just wasn't sure if I could post coins that aren't mine

It's starting to look like there might be 2 reverses for this coin with one of my versions being a doubled die
Of course, not knowing their minting process, I'll have to defer to someone who might know
                  Especially in 1905

On the left is the PCGS coin's reverse of Y#10 and you can see the devices that I've highlighted that just don't add up
I didn't find any major differences on the obverse save one small feature
                  Thanks again for everyone's help

I'm pretty sure there are two reverses to this coin now

My next question is if this is a documented variety or if it should be
                    Does CONECA attribute foreign varieties?
                    Should I send it in?

As far as I know, CONECA does NOT have a world coin variety attribution service. I do know that Mike Ellis does look at World Errors. As far as attributing them, I just don't know. You should be able to ask him directly at the following email address.
