German 1921-D 50 Pfennig DDO
My name is Connor and I am a new NON-PAYING member. I had my first U.S Penny Collection before the age of 10 and I started collecting world coins 3-4 years ago. I am in college, but I am still active for my favorite hobby. My favorite Country to collect is German, which is why I am making this post. I was looking at my German Collection, and I noticed there could be some doubling on the obverse of this 1921-D 50 Pfennig. The date, and the word “Pfennig” make it clear that some extra thickness is present. I have 6 pictures, three of my coin and three of an NGC example of the same year. If better pictures are needed, I can take and send in more. Lastly, I am well aware of the machine doubling on the coin.

Yours appears to me machine doubling (MD). The extra thickness could be regular circulation or die wear. However, these early German coins have plenty of really nice doubled dies and nicer errors. I have found a few while going through some world coin bags earlier this month. Find enough of these earlier coins, and you will not be disappointed.Bob Piazza
