Definitely some deterioration going on. However, could you measure the the diameter for us? If it is 15.5 mm, then it would be correct. If it is more, it could be broadstruck. I will let Gary have at this one to see what he thinks.

mustbebob , I do not know enough about foreign coin minting process, so I can only assume what is wrong here. It looks abnormal on both sides with the design spilling onto the rim.
It could be die deterioration, but it seems like it is die related some how.
The rim seems to be intact. This extra circular ring is the culprit, on the non dated side. It looks raised. It could have been a problem with the die making.
Maybe a world coin examiner here at CONECA should look at this?Last edited by MintErrors; 10-28-2022, 06:45 PM.Gary Kozera

Hummm I will have to think about this one.
It appears all of the design in on the coin, but it is on a smaller planchet
Normally a smaller planchet, which is struck by a bigger die, it loses some of the design over the edge...like these.

i am going to have to sleep on this one and see if i can come up with a logical explanation.Gary Kozera

OK, I will say I don't have an answer for this one. A suggestion is starting a post in the CONECA SERVICES area under EXAMINATIONS. Hopefully they have a world coin attributer. Note all the problems, and possibly link this page to you new post. If you can take really focused photos, without all of the arrows, it may be helpful. Give them as much info as you can. The rest is up to you.
I simply don't know enough about the die and planchet manufacturing for this foreign country to know what is going on here. It might be labeled as struck on smaller planchet, but that would be up to the examiner to decide.Last edited by MintErrors; 11-01-2022, 01:55 AM.Gary Kozera
