CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Small or Large Date

Can somebody please help me determine if this is a 1982 small date or large date penny please? I’m assuming it’s a large date but yet I see curving on the inside and outside of the number two so I’m having a really hard time figuring this out. Thank you!!!

In my opinion, the easiest way to tell is the size of the 2 in the date.
If it's a large, normal looking "2" like this one, it's a small date.
If the 2 is sort of smaller and fancy looking, it's a large date.

Some people can tell by the size of the top part of the 8, if that is smaller, more "snowman" looking, it's a small date.

If the holes in the 8 are the same size, like this 8, it's a large date.

    Here is a photo comparision:

I will admit, I am not a huge fan of zinc Lincolns.
To me, it looks like a large date.
