  • 2024 P Lincoln Cent Doubled Ear and Y in Liberty found in roll

    Hi All!
While looking through a roll of pennies today that had a shiny new penny on one end and an old circulated penny on the other end, this is what I found... 5 copper pennies, 23 zincolns and 22 nice looking 2024's! I think these may be early uncirculated strikes that got mixed with the older coins before rolling. Anyway be on the lookout for the DDOs. I spotted the doubling on the right side of the Y and then later caught the separation on the earlobe. It is not the easiest to get a picture of, but I managed to. I am glad to have found these on Presidents Day weekend! I will try and add pictures from the mobile site and hope they post with proper orientation. I hope to have this attributed in the near future. I enjoy this site and the ERRORSCOPE magazine provided to members and hope you do as well!

While it is important to look for doubling on the new cents, I'm afraid yours is only showing md.

I am sorry you are wrong. The areas are not at all shelf-like but rounded and adds to the devices. The coin in hand is better than what the pictures reveal. While not as dramatic as other doubled ears, it is a clue to there being more in 2024. Maybe you will find one for yourself.
Go to the bank and ask for a roll, the Philadelphia Jefferson Nickels were full of doubled dies last year. Ask fo a roll of them too if you can find em'.

I can see the slight seperation to the NW. Nice find!
Heck here in the midwest we onlys see a philadelphia roll the following year and usually it's only for short period of time. Pick up all those you can. They won't be seen in the midwest and probably none out West. The mint has gotten tough on releaseing new coinage. I still have not seen one roll of 2023-P in St. Louis. We have all the "D"'s you could want. Heck I havn't seen a "D" for 2024 yet either but they usually do not show up hear until April - May.

Thank You! I was looking for the 2023's last spring and summer but only came up with 2021's and 2022's. I finally picked up some 2023's in December. I was surprised to see the 2024's as I was picking up the 2023 P Nickels. I asked for a box of each but was limited to $20 Nickels and $10 Cents. It was worth the trip! I'll try again this week but need to travel 45 minutes the day banks stay open later. There are tight reins around the "Real" money that is put out by the US Treasury Departmnent. The Quarters were pretty much available but the new obverse design hasn't produced any doubled ears like the State Quarters, Territories and America The Beautiful Series of which I have found.
