CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1945 Mercury dime die clash?

I think I might be getting a handle on what to look for in error coins. Not to good at searching for info at the other sites or even here if it was discussed.
I’ve looked at this dime many times before I picked up on the error, if it is.

It is possible. Here is an overlay to reference, from Jason C.

Thanks Gary. It was exciting to find, and it felt like I went a little deeper into the rabbit hole of error coins.
One other question, would this be the way to list the coin:

      1945 10C ODC

I’m not going to attempt to grade it, It is a bit worn. Learning the abbreviations seems to be giving me the most fits.

In my opinion, yes, it would be a correct listing name, but it is tied to that website. Is it known as a universal naming convention ? I do not know, but it shows a reference. I would add the name of the site just in case.

Here is a list of abbreviations. I had a long list of them stuck away in a crate I used to carry to shows. If I come across it, I will scan it and upload it on this website.

        Happy hunting.
