CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

      old habits.

whenever a coin's main diagnostic, in this case the north part of the mm, has been damaged/altered in any way, i fall back on secondaries although this can include the position/tilt etc of the mm as well.

i said the coin isn't the RPM quoted in this thread but it is possible the main diagnostic was just obliterated by die bounce or whatever and that was a bit too dismissive since there are other pups to confirm/deny the specimen.

Point taken. Die markers are the SECOND thing to look at. If the position of the primary mintmark is farther East then an RPM, then why even look for a marker on that particular RPM? I took the time to adjust his photo then align the photo and do an overlay. Coneca-1935-S.jpg 1935-S-RPM#1A-XF-M.M._For_Coneca.jpg Coneca-1935-S-Overlay.jpg
His photo size is different than mine but as you can see the 9's line up. His mintmark and date position in relation to the mintmark are not the same.

I posted this before I could see the response. My internet seems to load updates to a server very slow. I saw you posted but could not actually see the post till after I posted this response.
