In my opinion, it's verdigris and not a strike through. Something that size in a strike through may be considered very minor due to size. If examiners and attibutors can see it under 10x magnification, then it's a candidate to be called too minor.Gary Kozera

may want to keep some rose thorns fresh and or dried or toothpicks etc to knock stuff like that off or it will grow into the creature from the black lagoon.
long acetone soaks will get rid of it for sure but i don't usually like advising chemicals to ppl i don't know. stuff is dangerous.coinfacts.com - conecaonline.info - board.conecaonline.org/forum/numismatic-site-links - briansvarietycoins.com - coppercoins.com - cuds-on-coins.com - doubleddie.com - error-ref.com - franklinlover.yolasite.com - ikegroup.info -lincolncentresource.com - maddieclashes.com - money.org - ngccoin.com/price-guide/world - ngccoin.com/census - ngccoin.com/resources/counterfeit-detection - nnp.wustl.edu - pcgs.com/pop - pcgs.com/coinfacts - pcgs.com/photograde - varietyvista.com - vamworld.com

Ya I definitely don't need another pet.....or mouth to feed......
Question:
now the verdigris is a low acidic pH like around 2 or 3? If so, then could one say use a neutralizer or drop of pH up to get it 6 or 7 neutral or is that what acetone does because I thought #1 golden rule is never, ever clean a coin except maybe with a light warm Dawn solution or Windex?
Also is the long acetone soak also a way to clean ancients?

i cannot comment about the various acidic/base levels of chemicals to use on coins but tread quite lightly. there are just tried and true methods that are safe to stick to until you get far more practice/experience. sometimes what we do to coins now doesn't manifest for a while and then it is too late.
those verdigris spots are usually stuck on there very good surprisingly. (i have seen copper coin experts remove those and the corrosion spots with success with old time chemicals and much practice)
