CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1976D heavy filled MM

I read the Wexler article on MM punch bounce. Thank you for pointing me in that direction it explained alot! What it didn't talk about was how the MM gets filled like this one.

What's the rule of with a heavily filled MM as such as this its got quite the mound that's why I posted it along with a concave 6 and lower part of 7 in the 1976 date is that from MDS/LDS because the initials are of LDS and IGWT. It looks tilted in the collar as well below the relief?

The 7 and 9 show damage. Mint Marks like this are a bit of a common die break.
