In my opinion, it looks like a normal zinc Lincoln to me.
What's the coin weight? Should be close to 2.5 grams
It really depends on how the coin was handled. It almost looks like there is zinc on top of the copper plating, but it could be tarnish from handling.
If it appears to be zinc, it could have come from a coin that was next to this one in a roll, jar, jug or container.Last edited by MintErrors; 08-29-2024, 12:14 AM.Gary Kozera

It's 2.5g but how come the copper/zinc mix looks that way is it because somehow the copper floated to the top or from when the zinc coating is applied because on most you see have a uniform look not patchy. I thought it was maybe a mixture or planchet defect, so this is within tolerance huh?

In my opinion, it's rather difficult to look at a photo(s) and truly grasp the issue some times.
Yes sir, 2.5 grams is within tolerance for a zinc cent.
The cent doss not look like it has any split plating or zinc bubbles that I can see. The bluish tint on the reverse kind of indicates a zinc leak from some where. The most common seems to be a popped zinc blister or split plating.
I do not believe it's a partially plated planchet. Again, it could have been close quarters to a zinc cent that was falling apart, which could have stained/contaminated your coin.
I do not care for zinc cents and I only have a handful or two of them. Mainly they are major errors. They just don't appeal to me and I feel like they eventually will fall apart from the inside.
