CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1927P Buffalo

There's a delam starting on the obverse of this 1927P thru the ponytail and the reverse looks like LDS on the device an inscription with a touch of PMD on the rump but is that what caused the cud or bar above USOA by rim?

likely the culprit is the same that caused the other lamination type error, improper metal mixture or bubbles or something. impurities even, like slag?

there is a term for some extra metal that forms around the edge/rims of coins but it ain't coming to me just now. almost certainly will be on error-ref as this is not a rare occurrence on buffs or other denoms.

I'm going to look it up but are you referring to BAR designation that forms between the inscription and rim?
