The third party grading services historically only considered missing devices when there is absolutely no trace whatsoever of that particular device ( mintmarks, designer initials). It's ironic because yesterday I did have one gentleman visit our tables and have a discussion about no FG on a Kennedy half.
To me what is perplexing is why some coins with potentially debris filled die areas are highly sought after, when may are not. The 1922 "no D" is one that is popular amongst a lot of collectors with at least 2 working dies that were affected.
Another is the Kennedy no FG. The floating roof Lincoln Memorial which also can have the designer initials missing. I am sure there are a few others.
It's a form of marketing almost. Throw something at the wall of popularity and see if it sticks.
For me it's back to bed. Another day at the show and soon home seen some neat varieties and a few errors. I may do a post about them in the near future.Gary Kozera

So in another words the mint employee in the machine shop has to not have NEVER put the MM on the working die with the punch thus no raised surface at any angle on the coin which makes sense now. OK it's getting a "grease filled strike" marketing ploy label (ha ha!).
Ya I agree it's rather interesting what people collect like for instance Ebay was started by a guy whose girlfriend collected Peez dispensers and accessories and she had soooooo many he was supposedly sick of it and wanted a way to sell them to get them out of the house. Funny you mention the floating roof remember my 1969S RD posting of the one? Showed it to my coin club and found that one interesting? I also found 3 others in the 60's must have been bad for them that decade. I ordered that die cap/ multi-strike Rupee from you finally. I think those are so cool so thank you. Hope show goes well till the end.
Also sent that 1970D BAR to examinations for well a examination like you suggested.
ThankX 4 putting up with me.
