to be kinda fair, yes, imo, there have been posters here that have posted (in my estimation) such ridiculous inquiries, so something like this is unfortunately, NOT off the table and unfortunately escaped my (imo) huge humor antenna. ugh
be forewarned tho, numismatics is nortoriously dry.
did you buy the coin (which is obviously not an original hobo) or just snag an image for an attempt at some levity in this place?coinfacts.com - conecaonline.info - board.conecaonline.org/forum/numismatic-site-links - briansvarietycoins.com - coppercoins.com - cuds-on-coins.com - doubleddie.com - error-ref.com - franklinlover.yolasite.com - ikegroup.info -lincolncentresource.com - maddieclashes.com - money.org - ngccoin.com/price-guide/world - ngccoin.com/census - ngccoin.com/resources/counterfeit-detection - nnp.wustl.edu - pcgs.com/pop - pcgs.com/coinfacts - pcgs.com/photograde - varietyvista.com - vamworld.com

I concur that numismatics is dry at times which is why I tried an "ice breaker". I will own it that I am green and have posted some shall I dare say "stupid questions".
Yes, the creator is Jay himself from Jayhobo.com hobo nickels. He is a lifetime OHNS member and was supposedly taught by either Bo or George or one of the greats. He's a member of our club Tacoma Lakewood coin club (TLCC) here in Washington state. I've been informed by PCGS that they are NOW encapsulating but I don't know about grading because how would you right which I feel is great but have yet to see one with my four eyes.
Also, this will be the only post I do like this to "get a laugh" which thus it should be. I guess it's supposed to be a SOMEWHAT professional forum NOT a comedy one. So apologies folks!!!
What's your opinion(s) on having him do one on say a 1937D 3 legged or a 1938D/S do you think it would increase or decrease the value, asetics or even maybe help "revive" the hobo nickel theme ???Last edited by Shleppodella1; 09-26-2024, 10:52 PM.

i can't offer an opinion on him doin one on a more valuable coin but i've seen PLENTY over the decades from truely amazing artists and they have got some handsome prices, so the right person could probably increase value from $1-3k to $xxxx but i have no idea how many of them start with such valuable pieces. usually they are just low-dollar stuff, even when silver dollar, gold (generic) etc are used.
the 38-d/s if he normally gets big premiums, would probably increase the value.
d.carr gets substantial premiums, so i don't see a reason why others can't/won't.

If it matters, I did chuckle when I seen this. Humor is allowed here, as far as I know. occnumis2021 knows more about the hobo nickel than I do, historically and rough values.it takes a pretty steady hand to do them.
Hummm I wonder how many tattoo artists actually have tried their skills on coins, vice skin?
It's great that they leave hints on what type of coin they used to transform it into art. It allows people to see the before and after transformation.
As far as the type of error, I think the subject appears to be malnourished, so let's call it a thin diet planchet.
I wanna steer away from any type of virus, disease, plague. I think we had enough of that type stuff over the past 2 or 3 years.oh, I don't want to forget the zombie apocalypse trend in there too.Gary Kozera

This only a 1-time affair momentary lapse of reasoning [for all the site editors reading this].
I had a new comedy fishing rod with some light test line and bobber and simply wanted to cast a line and see if I could get a nibble. Which I did. Thank you to all for that.
Also, I will inform Jay at the next meeting of his "new" category of "thin diet planchet" his work made. Nice one by the way!!!! kudos..... he'll roar especially after I tell him how it came to be because he is a member here too.
