    1964-P Kennedy strike thru

Strike thru on Kennedy's head above ear to west and this was found in a roll.
Is this enough "drama" to warrant being sent in I wonder?
I'm trying to figure out the "line" of what's what.

In my opinion, it's got to be pretty big and dramatic to fetch a value equal to what a coin is going to cost - just to break even.

Prices are going up at most third party graders. A one coin submission may run close too 100 bucks or more.

You have to ask the question to yourself....Is this coin worth more than the total grading, slabbing and authentication fees ? Are you slabbing it for peace of mind and want to keep it forever ?

In my opinion, it seems kind of minor. It also appears to be a circulated coin. In most auctions and price guides, circulated errors can have the prices drop significantly over a mint state error coin. Even if 5his was an uncirculated coin, I don't believe it could be worth more than the fees the 3rd party grading service charge. In my opinion, if it's not a strike through, and you send it in as such, very rarely will the 3rd party grading service refund any funds. If you pay for the error authentication fee, and they don't agree, they simply return the coin with a grade. No mention of a strike through. If it's a die crack or other issue, they may annotate it on the label.

For me it's difficult via photos to know for sure that this is an actual strike through. Is the area raised, or is it sunk into the coin ?

Another look shows a potential crack in the planchet itself running to the south and west. I wonder if this could be a lamination issue, where part of the metal broke off leaving a small crater ?

Or it a scrape line, with it either ending or starting at the crater ?

Photos are Ok, I just cannot make out if that's a crack in the planchet or otherwise. I an zooming in as best I can with the tablet, with little success.
