Extra dot on 1912 Liberty nickel reverse - mint, or...

Hi - I came across this oddity in my coin research -- two dots vs one dot to the left of Cents on the reverse. Seems like a mint error (failed die)? I welcome any and all input. Thanks.

That lower “dot” of the two is actually the well worn Denver mint mark “D”.

I should add that 1912 was the last year of the Liberty nickel, and the only year they were minted at all three mints P,D, and S.
