CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

I have no idea what this is. It is either a Lamination Error, misguiged strike on a die that didn't last long or a corrosion problem. The D has Machine Doubling and look's like Deterioation on top of the Digit's. The Larger D appears to have MD on the N and E side. Just wanted your opinion. Thank's for your help.

It doesn't look like a lamination error, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure what it is.

If were in the mid 40s to the late 50s, I would say that it needed to be looked at closely for it may have been a wayward mint mark, but since it is the wrong size D, that is out.

Like Mike, I do not have any idea. What ever it is, it does look interesting.
