CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1917 lincoln cent error coin

    Anyone ever seen a 1917 Philadelphia wheat with an upside down "R" instead of a "u" in the word trust?

    What you're suggesting is not really possible on a 20th century coin from the US Mint. There are wacky errors like this on old coinage or from outside Mints (like Columbia or Brazil). The design is fixed on the master die and master hub - they did not punch or engrave individual dies at this time, so I would be hard pressed to explain something like this on a Lincoln cent.

        Here are a few shots of it, it almost looks like something has made the U look like a upside down R. Worth anything besides looking at?

          This is all due to damage and wear. This coin is pretty beat up.
