CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1954 P Franklin Half "Bugs Bunny" with Die Break

I have a '54 P "Bugs Bunny" FS401 with a Die Break/Chip on the eagle. The PCGS site has several images of FS401's and a couple of them appear to have a bit of a break, but there is no mention of it, it is not as obvious as mine is. Ever seen or heard of this break?

That die break may or may not be used as a marker for this particular year coin. For early die state coins, it is not there at all. For later die state coins, it is visible and gets more pronounced as more coins were struck.
Since this is a die clash it may or may not be known with that chip. In addition, these clashes happened during multiple years of the Franklin half dollar, and as such many years may not have a chip there at all.
