CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    So i just got a few of the 1943 steel cents from someone that had them in a safe for as long as they can remember they are not into coins these and some other beautiful coins were given to them years ago all in packages and in mint state im pretty sure i have the 1943 p ddo which i didnt pay much for and didnt look for any errors before offering to buy them i wanted them because i have no 1943 cent in my collection

    Looks like die deterioration, especially around the date.

      It could also be from the coin being replated. The parts that show die wear get enhanced from a solvent used to clean the rust, then plated over.
