2004 OCEANS IN VIEW NICKEL VARIATION?
I am looking through a roll of nickels and noticed this 2004 D Oceans In View Nickel that appears to have possible doubling next to the smaller tree on the right. There have been many errors noted on this nickel higher up in the trees but I could not find anything about the trunk area of the smaller tree. Any suggestions?Tags: None

This is pretty interesting. It does not appear to be doubling of anything in the area, and it is sitting south of the primary area know for doubling this year. First thing that comes to mind is that this may be a struck through area (maybe heavy grease). One question I have is 'Is the area incuse or raised on the surface of the coin?Bob Piazza

It would have to be looked at by an attributer/examiner. I know it's not doubling, but I don't know what it is without a hands on examination. When we open up attributions or another examiner has an opinion on this, we will announce it and you can decide if you want to send it in.Bob Piazza
