1973 S Cent Questions on MM
I found this 1973 S in my grandfathers loose penny’s. It looked of good quality but brown to red brown in color. I noticed the mint mark had some extra thickness and could be a RPM as it appeared to have another one below it. The pictures are a little blurry as you zoom in and I couldn’t get the line on the right side of the MM. What are your thoughts on this coin.Last edited by JonC136; 07-01-2021, 04:12 PM.Tags: None

The best way to photograph things you think are extra thick is straight on. If you take pictures at an angle, is distorts the way it looks. Now...as far as extra thickness on a mintmark punching, if the mint technician punched the mintmark deeper than usual, it does result in a thicker mint mark. When we look for repunched mintmarks, we do not look for extra thickness as much as we look for separation and/or notches on the serifs from multiple punches.Bob Piazza
