1969 D No initials Reverse ?

I am sure Bob P. the Lincoln Cent attributer will chime in here soon.
The no FG on the 1969 series the majority of them is simply an over polishing of the dies. It gives the appearance that the FG does not exist, when it actually is there as a raised bump. An over zealous mint worker probably scrubbed the die too much, or the designer initials themselves actaully are filled with debris to the point being almost non-existant.
I will tell you this. For the 1969-D year, I opened up a 5,000 count brilliant uncirculated Lincoln cent bag about 6 years ago. I pulled out over a dozen rolls of the no FG and the "floating roof". Both are just polishing efforts. They are super common.Out of the over twelve rolls I think I got less than a roll that if heavily scrutinized might qualify for a no FG. Those I kept, the others got tossed back and rolled up and stored.
I was in dismay when one of the Cherry Picker guides actually had a mentioning of the no FG. PCGS has prices on it, but they have been falling dramatically. The senior error collectors seem to shy away from this one.
There are some supposedly legit no FG's that collectors seek, like on the Kennedy half dollar.
To me, I think I can see a very faint FG.
Keep searching persistence pays off. =)

I don't need to add anything else. MintErrors covered everything I would have on this anomaly (and did it much more eloquently). I (like him) was not a happy camper when I saw this in the CPG instead of more deserving varieties. They really are nothing more than an over abrading.Bob Piazza
