CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Looking for help with these nickels

I recently came across some nickels that I'm not sure if they are errors, double dies or what. I'm trying to learn about these things so I can figure it out on my own if possible. I have compared these nickels to other nickels of the same year and mint mark (compared to 2 or 3) and these look a lot different then the ones I compared them to. I have also tried to find these on the Variety Vista site and there are no listings for these so I don't know if these are new finds or not. Here is what I not sure about. Pictures will be in order of the list below:

    1) 2016 D- double die? date/liberty/motto
    2) 1999 P- double die? looks like the mint mark and all three 9's are doubled
    3) 1999 P- double die? looks like the mint mark and the last two 9's are doubled with the doubling of the mint mark being thicker then #2 in this list

If any of these are neew finds what do I do? Any feedback/help with these is appreciated.

It appears that you have a whole lot of die deterioration and machine doubling here. I am afraid I do not see anything that looks like hub doubling. Sorry.
