1971 Kennedy Half strange and weird help!

Hello all:

Can anyone please give me a bit of help with this one? I have no idea what is going on. Did someone pour acid on this coin? Is there some other type of coin imprinted partly on the obverse? Is there a ghost hand reaching out to the "l" in liberty?

It is tough to know what it is. But I strongly believe it is Post Mint damage (PMD), and what ever it is, occurred outside of the mint.

Could be glue residue too. But definitely not a mint error. Finger nail polish remover that contains acetone would remove it, if it were glue. Acetone won't hurt the coin, just rinse it off after application.

If you use acetone on a coin, get 100% pure acetone from a hardware store. Not nail polish remover.

Jason makes a VERY important point. Pure acetone is a must. Some of the perfumes and other additives they put in fingernail polish remover WILL stain or damage your coin. Pure acetone will not.
