CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Shield cents 2018, 2022

    I found these two pennies and they both have the same strike behind the ear. Ones a 2018 and the other is a 2022. Would they be considered a doubled ear variety? Or were they both damaged at the same exact place?

    These are actually machine doubling (MD) However, this is a primary area for doubled dies, but it is different. Have a look at the primarily D mintmarked coins for these shield cents. You can see the difference between yours, and the attributed doubled dies.
