I do believe the L on the die was plugged with die grease. The grease would have kept the metal from filing that device.
There is a lighter discoloration in the area of the L with a very similar shape which also might be an effect of the grease on the planchet.

There are two possibilities here. A grease filled letter or coin counter damage. Look around d the coin and see if there is a circular, halo around the coin. I THINK I see something like it, from the last T in TRUST to the the point of the coat south of the date.

I think there is some damage on the coat south, a decent distance away from the rim. Although coin counters don't normally remove whole letters, or other devices, it might be possible. Scrutinize the letters of IGWT, I think they might be nicked as well.

With all that said, it may just be the lighting, but either way, it is pretty minor.

If I had to choose one from just photos, I'd go with a grease filled since the copper has not been damaged enough to expose the inner zinc core.
