CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Nina Warren's finger?

    I'm looking at my 1st two Nina Warren quarters. I'm struggling making sense of the little finger on her right hand. It seems to start in the middle of nowhere. The 2 coins I got in change today both look like this. Anybody else finding anything different or was Nina created with a bit of a phantom finger? It's late. Perhaps I'm just missing something as I keep counting and recounting the number of fingers on her hands

      Thanks Bob! Excellent link to the mint's high-resolution images. I will bookmark that one.
      Looking at the mint's photos, I can now imagine her little finger wrapping around the other bottom finger. I certainly would not criticize any artist who is able to create a curving/folded little finger in a metal die...

        I agree. The engravers at the US mint are amazing. Imagine all of this work done by hand and under microscope on the old US coinage. In credible work.
