If anyone knows a 1973S or 1973 cent reverse, they know the first Lincoln Memorial pillar shows a mysterious diagonal fluting running from the upper left, to the middle. That became a staple of the die, an errant image which became doubled on every die after when a portion was removed in the second Lincoln Memorial bay.
A second Lincoln Memorial hubbing was soon newly installed in place where the image needed its focused restrengthening, cementing the diagonal left pillar fluting. All of the above are 1973S cents. Each rehubbed upper second Lincoln Memorial bay shows weakness on UNUM.
On early 1973 reverses an errant portion of the rehubbing of the second Memorial bay remain.
