  • 1993 DDO quarter, or ?

Ran across this kinda neat looking quarter, and its well circulated, but it looks like IGWT and date are odd looking. Is it just machine doubling, or? its pretty severe looking, to me.Whats anyone elses take on this quarter?

The doubling is not close to the same height. If the doubling was at the same height, it may be a winner. Add in some research from variety vista. There were only 3 dates in the 1990 decade that had doubled die obverses, and all of them were from San Francisco.

Take a look at this doubled die quarter. See how there are two impressions on top of each other ? It's especially evident on IGWT. It's important to note that they are close to the same height and this shows those cookie cutter style lines. Several letters show split serifs or notching at the coner of the letters. That one is a great example.

Oh, i see, that most of the DD in the 90's quarters were from the San Francisco mint, then? I looked at the V V pages, and didnt see much there, so I knew this was the place to ask the experts with knowledge that could and would be able tohelp steer me to the info that helps me become a more informed, and smarter collector, THANK YOU. I was just going over my pocket change, and saw it and was like, wow, thats different, you dont see US coins that look like that too often, with such visual eye catching differences, that stay in circulation so long, that i think ill just liberate from circulation for awhile, i think its a pretty cool quarter that I found in my pocket! For a quarter,ha! Not bad.
