  • 1969S Lincoln Floating Roof

I recently read an article about the 1969S floating roof Lincoln Memorial Penny. Now this one I came across seems to fit the bill. How would this be classed if it's authentic?
This one is in great condition now would this be a candidate for grading?

    is the FG gone?

there is a collector base for floaters and missing FG which kinda go together sometimes.

i haven't done much with S mint floaters/missing FG but several D mints. you'd have to do some sales results searching to see if the S have interest and check the TPG pop reports to see if any have been graded/attributed.

The floating roof was featured in a cherry pickers guide several editions ago.

BUT, many collectors see it as an abraded die which is basically an over polishing. The missing FG is the same thing, it's basically an abraded die or the designer initials were full of debris/grease.

Some of the abraded dies, or devices missing take off for popularity and value, like the 1922 "no D" Lincoln cent. Some of these oddities stick to the wall of prosperity, most do not.
