CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1972D Kennedy Half Dollar. what is it?

Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away there was a place in New Jersey called Atlantic City. Where the slot machines used real U.S mintage coins. I remember that win or loose, before I left I would fill one of those little popcorn buckets with fifty cent coins and then go home. Kennedys were king, but you could still find some Franklins. Over the years most of the silvers were sold at the coin shop for silver and the Kennedys were spent or given to the kids. Recently I came across a sock in the bottom of the closet with about sixty Kennedys. There were a couple 64’s on up. I have come across two that I will share with the group. Today I will post a unique 1972D. I hope through this group ,we can determine what is going on with this particular coin. Enjoy the pictures and feel free to share with me what opinions you have with this coin.

In my opinion, it's a die clash. You might be able to find a match at

        John,
If you still have any 1965-1970 remember those are silver/Clad so they still bring more than 50C!
