1964 D retained strike through nickel
Struck through with retained steel metal. but this wraps around the edge showing on the obverse, reverse, and collar edge at together. This is my best retained strike through. Mike Diamond wrote up an article on this coin in Coin World about how much rarer a retained strike through on the edge is vs, on obverse or reverse only. Does anyone have an edge retained? Show us any retained strike through you have no mater where it is retained...

wow. if some random person had posted that, from those images, i almost certainly would have discounted it. perhaps that it wraps around to the edge and it looking like a strike through (but also damage) may not have fully altered my opinion.
if you ever have the desire/opportunity, a professional image of that, perhaps at a 45 degree angle to capture the edge and rev would be most welcome.
lovely coin and very educational !!coinfacts.com - conecaonline.info - board.conecaonline.org/forum/numismatic-site-links - briansvarietycoins.com - coppercoins.com - cuds-on-coins.com - doubleddie.com - error-ref.com - franklinlover.yolasite.com - ikegroup.info -lincolncentresource.com - maddieclashes.com - money.org - ngccoin.com/price-guide/world - ngccoin.com/census - ngccoin.com/resources/counterfeit-detection - nnp.wustl.edu - pcgs.com/pop - pcgs.com/coinfacts - pcgs.com/photograde - varietyvista.com - vamworld.com

No retained strike throughs here. Hummmm I think I have an ANACS slab in storage some where that says retained die break, cud or something close to that.
It's hard to take photos of all of the conditions of a coin like this when the are slabbed. The collar area is pretty hidden.Last edited by MintErrors; 11-30-2024, 01:03 PM.Gary Kozera

Found a retained cud.
Not sure if I have more in storage or not.
I have a good number of strike through Lincoln's especially from the 60's.
This retained cud is from 1952:

I do have to add product to the website. As well adding some new posts. It honestly depends on researching the piece and setting a value. I have acquired quite a few off centers as well. Some are on consignment. But first, I've got to upgrade some software then, have the database that lists the coins within Google shopping match up with the way Google wants things. It's a "work in progress".Gary Kozera
