CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    i have A 1979 half dollar that weighs 11.1 grams is the normal ?? thanks

    I believe the normal weight for your coin should be 11.34 grams. The small difference is acceptable by mint standards.

      Thank You, My 1972's weigh 11.5. I know it's a small difference but 4 tenths is almost 1/2 gram.. Is that still a small difference also ? thanks

        It just happens that you have one that is over a bit and one that is under a bit; both are acceptable by MINT standards.

          According to published records, the Kennedy half has had a couple of different weights based on metal composition:

          Silver clad coinage: 11.50 grams
          Copper-nickel clad coinage was 11.34
