CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1971 Kennedy Half Dollar

    I found this 1971 Kennedy Half Dollar and to me it seems to be a DDR of United States OF America and Half Dollar but I do have some trouble telling at times. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. I have 2 others I will be listing separately.

    Afternoon Ross,
    Sorry no one has answered sooner. Notice this is flat-shelf like - the raised edge is the corner of the shelf - its where the machine raised and the remaining moved metal built up? Its what is refered to as machine doubling. A true double die has the be raised, to the field; at least two seperate times.
    I hope this helps. It's not a double die.
