CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

  • 1962-D Lincoln Cent W/Multiple Images.

    Here is a 1962-D Lincoln Cent that I don't have any idea how it got the images it has. It has multiple images {both raised and incused}, and it all is on the obv.. The rev. is perfect. I would appreciate any opinions and comments on it.

    Looks like your coin was stuck in the collar and struck multiple times from a shifting die cap. That's my guess.

      The coin was struck once through a multiply-struck, dislodged die cap or detached cap bottome. There were numerous shift-and-strike events before the strike that created your coin. The normally-oriented incuse design elements are characteristic of such errors.
