Die chip would be the wrong terminology. What you are referring to is a "clip", but what it looks like here is someone with a lot of time and a file. Clips that happen at the mint are very very clean. if you will notice the edge of your "clip" there is a rough rim also filing down the last 5 in the date.Jimmy Ehrhart

This is a genuine curved clip. The coin shows a Blakesley effect at the pole opposite the clip, and the design rim tapers and fades out as it approaches the clip. Both are strong indicators of authenticity. I can't tell if the last 5 shows metal flow, but if it does, that's a third indicator. I don't know why the field is a bit rough next to the clip, but that's not enough to counter the other diagnostics.Mike Diamond. Error coin writer and researcher.
