  • 1960 large or small dates

Can anyone tell me if these are small or large date 1960 pennies? I have another set, I will send pics. Also, can anyone tell me why the 1960d penny is another color than the others? It looks gold or lighter copper.

They appear to be all large date with the exception of one.The coin shown in the 3rd and 4th picture lower right under the brighter cent appears to be a small date 1960 D. Copper can show many color variations due to composition, age, oxidation and circulation just to name a few. I have seen some beautiful deep red and black examples and some with amazing rainbow patinas.

They are Lg. Dates to me...

I had 50 BU rolls of 1960 Large Date. When I zoomed in on your pics. I did not see any Small Date. Check these out. The lighting was bad so there not so pretty as they are in person. I have some gem rainbow toned ones. I'm no expert but "MY" opinion is they are all Large..

Hi Jason, Thank's for the pics. But I think They will help Lavent's Post. I Know a 1960 sm. date vs. the lg. date. I just look at the 6. Now to me the 1970-S sm. date and lg. date is a different ballgame. I have 1970-S sm. and lg. dates. I have to focus on the 9 real hard. Because I have lg. dates with a real weak TY in Liberty and level out the 7 just by changing the angle of the coin when examining or taking a photo. To me the 6 in the 1960 is so easy to see it will hit you in the face. I'm not an expert but i learned what i know from the best expert out there. Now i will be vane. I had in my hand the first of a few 1969-S DDO the day it was found a fews back I said to K.P. it looks like a Triple die. LOL. I couldn't even hold my hand steady. I was shakin so hard and in shock. it was hard keeping that secret till it went public. Thanks for your reply....
