Also, the so called clashed letters are off center from their normal position to the point they are entering into the rim (not possible with a clash) or at least near the rim area making it at minimum a misaligned clash. To me the liklihood of this all happening as well as it not having the characteristics normally associated with a clash is more than a stretch.

        It would be nice if some folks could learn a little more about coins before calling them worthless. this is definately a unusal coin and it is a good one. just like the other cent coin I had on a coin talk forum that a few folks said was nothing but PMD and impossible to be a mint error ....I had it looked at by someone that knows more than me and about everyone else and here is what he said;

        [[As for the 1978 cent, it looks to me like it was struck through a late stage
        capped die where the cap was moving out of the centered position. I'd agree
        that it is a mint error.]]

        folks needs to learn to stop calling coins worthless from just looking at photos unless it is something really obvious. this could end up causing some valuable coins to be thrown away and probably already has. as of right now the coin you just called worthless has already been looked at by one coin person , he said he saw no reason to think IGG got it wrong .... after I got it back from this person I sent it to Mr. Neff and he may let a few other folks see it.

        There is one other thing that I am thinking about other than a clashed die that could have occured at the mint to cause this unusal coin to be this way.

          Well if your coin was such a great coin then my advice to you is send it in and get it slabbed!!

            That just ain't going to happen since Rascal is convinced of two things:

            1. The coins is a rare and extreme die clash

            2. After the publicity received, it will never get properly attributed according to how Rascal sees it.

              If you are referring to the die clash coin it is already slabbed and was slabbed when I bought it. if you are referring to the other odd looking cent I had on here that some newbies said could not possibly be a mint error was actually a struck thru die cap coin where the die cap had come loose from the die and was shifting out of place a little between strikes. I have the paperwork for this coin that is needed to get it slabbed but I don't think it would be worth all of the hassles of sending it thru the mail and the slabbing cost. I think a few folks that are supposed to know a little about coins also tried to say this one was just PMD. You must absolutely love these two coins , I bet you have wore your fingers out making so many posts about them. LOL

                As for the already slabbed coin, I guess that would make this one correct?

                I don't love the coins as much as I love your enthusiasm.

                  Hello all, have not been on in a while and was reading this post and laughing at the same time. I would comment on your coin but your decision is already made up. I say rascal put your membership were your knowledge is. YOU say it is a million dollar coin, the MASTERS say PMD are you willing to bet your membership that this is the real thing. Im sure some of the expert would, because they have been on top of field for years, and thats what they do. After reading your post it reminded me of a group around 2-4yrs ago that it did not matter what you explained or who explained it, they were the ones that were correct. You wouldn't happened to be one of them, just reincarnated with a new name. All I can say is Good Luck to you.

                          Edward when someone says MAY BE worth a million it is not the same as saying IS worth a million. surely you are old enough and hopefully smart enough to realize that. anyway you should have been able to know that I was only being sarcastic. For the life of me I can never figure out what good some folks get's out of trying to go out of their way to try to make others look bad. some folks have told me it is because the ones doing this are trying to make theirself feel better .
