Copper is the perfect base metal for plating. I have found over a hundred 'silver' cents in my searches over the years. Some of them were plated with mercury, so they may be pretty, but could also be very dangerous.

mustbebob good, but i have question for you. have you ever looked at the coin under white light. you need to so you can see what the mint is hiding. later i will show you. if you have not. then i will show you some thing you will be amazed to see. let me know if you have not you need to see this.

Go ahead and amaze me Rocky. I have been in this business for over 50 years and have a couple of mint tours under my belt. I am not aware of the mint hiding anything from me, but I am always willing to have a look and make up my own mind.
