1947S Lincoln Penny with a Obverse Rim error?
I am looking at a really nice 1947S penny however from about 10 to 3 the rim is flattened out. It is only on the Obverse...the Reverse is perfect. What's up? Is that a mint error? Or does it just kill the coin for grading? The coin other than that looks like a MS66+ or even a MS67. Thoughts or comments?Tags: None

You have a slightly misaligned die coin. The flattening of the rim could be from ejection or even post mint damage like a rolling machine. I am not sure, but it isn't terrible, and I do not think it would detract from grading unless it was determined to be damage.Bob Piazza

I am not answering grading questions.
I would be very worried that it was scraped - can't tell from the photos for sure. But that would lead to a details grade. Check a shop that sends to PCGS and see what they think seeing it in hand.Jason Cuvelier
