CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1969 d penny mint mark error

    Hello everybody I am a new member and very new to error coins and collecting
    I have a 1969 D lmc penny the mint mark is way below the bottom of the the nine in the date. would this be considered a mint error? Any help and info is greatly appreciated

    The mint mark placement is well within limits. Since the mint marks were all hand punched until being included on the hub in 1990, anywhere under the date would be considered OK.

        It can be fun to hang on to lower MMs or the ones that are very close to the date.
