For informational purposes, the coins devices can not be printed. They are struck into the planchet by a die and a struck through is when there is something on the planchet or die already before it strikes a coin. Proper terminology is very important when dealing with varieties and errors.

Looks like the planchet was damaged before the strike as the letters do not show any scratches or damage.
