CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

I don't know.... ....it looks like it might be damage or a lamination. It honestly doesn't really look like an actual W.

I just realized that the "W' looks an awful lot like the one on the edge of presidential dollars, it is the W in In God We Trust. I bet that while the coin was being counted or something, another coins edge left that impression.

You are correct in taking the next logical step and trying to determine if there is any place on the coin where a dropped letter may have come from. However, if it is a hit from another coin, then it isn't a dropped letter. Is there any way you can confirm that the anomaly and any letter on this coin match in size and font?
