1963 ROOSEVELT DIME STRUCK THRU?
I am looking a a very nice 1963 Roosevelt Dime. The coin is in a PCGS Holder Graded PR67CAM (07962914 TrueView imaging available). The coin appears to have a strange struck through on the flame of the torch (reverse) which did not seem to affect the grading of the coin. Not sure what it could be. Pic one is close-up from PCGS pic. Pic 4 is taken at a 30 to 45 degree angle to show detail. Thoughts or comments?Last edited by rbroederer; 08-16-2021, 10:36 PM.Tags: None

Hello Bob, Thanks for the confirmation. When I got the coin, I actually missed the struck through which is hard to see with coin in hand and no loupe. The coin has very nice golden toning and I rarely see a coin with toning like that higher than a PR67. The subject coin did get the CAM rating by PCGS for its cameo contrast which is fairly rare for a coin with toning however the contrast is very evident. It is possible without the toning the coin could have graded DCAM. The certification number indicates it was originally graded around 20 years ago and the toning may have gotten more pronounced since then. I actually picked up the struck through after I sent the coin in for High Definition Imaging at PCGS. Good point though, without the struck through it may have graded higher. Thanks again. Cheers, Bruce.
